For centuries, people have asked one of the most important questions of all time: Did Jesus really rise from the dead? The resurrection is the very heart of the Christian faith. If Jesus rose, then everything He said about Himself is true. If He did not, then Christianity collapses. So, is there evidence?

1. The Empty Tomb

Historical records—both from the Bible and from outside sources—show that Jesus was buried in a tomb after His crucifixion. Three days later, the tomb was empty. The Jewish and Roman leaders could not produce His body, even though they had every reason to do so. The disciples did not have the power to steal it, and enemies would not want to. The simplest explanation is that Jesus rose.

2. Eyewitness Accounts

After His death, Jesus appeared to many people: Mary Magdalene, His disciples, and even more than 500 people at one time (1 Corinthians 15:6). These witnesses were not expecting a resurrection. Many were fearful, confused, and in hiding. Yet after seeing Jesus alive, their lives were transformed. They boldly proclaimed what they saw, even when it cost them their lives.

3. Transformation of the Disciples

Before the resurrection, the disciples were afraid and scattered. Afterward, they became courageous leaders who traveled across nations to share the good news. Most of them were beaten, imprisoned, or killed for their testimony. People may die for a lie they believe is true, but no one willingly suffers for something they know is false. Their courage points to a real encounter with the risen Christ.

4. The Growth of the Early Church

From a small group of ordinary men and women in Jerusalem, the message of Jesus spread rapidly throughout the Roman Empire and beyond. Despite persecution, the Christian faith grew and continues to grow today. The resurrection was the central message fueling this growth.

5. Changed Lives Today

For two thousand years, people across every culture—including South Asia—have testified that meeting the risen Jesus changed their lives. From breaking addictions, finding peace, experiencing forgiveness, and living with hope, countless people still encounter the power of the resurrection.

What Does This Mean for You?

If Jesus truly rose from the dead, then He is not just another teacher or religious figure. He is God, and His words are trustworthy. His resurrection shows that death is not the end and that eternal life is possible through Him.

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die” (John 11:25).
