For many, Jesus feels distant—like a figure from history, a religious leader, or someone for others but not for me. But the Bible shows that Jesus is alive today and invites each of us into a personal relationship with Him. The question is not only, ‘Who is Jesus?’ but also, ‘How can I start walking with Him today?’

This is the most important journey of your life. And it begins with a simple step of faith.

What the World Says

Many people in South Asia and beyond think of spirituality as a lifelong effort:

  • Some think we must prove ourselves to God through endless rituals and good works.
  • Others believe religion is about following traditions or rules from childhood.
  • Some assume we must become better people before we can come to God.

These approaches leave people exhausted or uncertain. They focus on what we do, not on what God has already done.

What the Bible and Jesus Say

The Bible teaches that a journey with Jesus begins not with our effort, but with His grace. Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). He invites us as we are—not as we wish we were.

Starting with Jesus means admitting our sin, trusting that His death and resurrection paid the penalty for our sin, and receiving His forgiveness. John 1:12 says, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”

This relationship grows as we talk to Him in prayer, learn from His Word, and join with others who follow Him. It is not a one-time ritual but a lifelong walk.

Your Next Step

God is not waiting for you to clean yourself up—He is waiting for you to come. He offers forgiveness, peace, and eternal life.

We come to God through talking to Him like we talk to a friend. If you want to begin this journey with Jesus today then tell Him through prayer which is simply talking to God, wherever you are. You can pray something like this:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose again to give me new life. Today I turn from my sin and place my trust in You alone as my Savior and Lord. Please forgive me, change my heart, and help me to follow You from this day forward. Thank You for loving me and giving me eternal life. In Your Name I pray, Amen.”

If you prayed this prayer sincerely, today is the beginning of your new life with Jesus. Take your next steps by reading God’s Word in the Bible, talking to Him in prayer, and connecting with other believers who can encourage you in your journey by attending a local church.
