Many people around the world practice religion in hopes of finding meaning, peace, and connection with God. But with so many religions, each offering different paths and teachings, the question naturally arises: Which religion is true?
What the World Says
People often respond to this question in different ways:
- Some say all religions are basically the same and lead to God in their own way. Often people summarize this by saying, “God created man, and man created religion.”
- Others argue that religion is a matter of personal opinion—whatever feels right for you is true.
- Still others claim none of them are true, seeing religion as human tradition or myth.
These views reflect humanity’s search for truth, but they leave us with uncertainty about who God really is and how we can know Him.
What the Bible and Jesus Say
The Bible presents a clear and unique answer. Truth is not found in many paths but in a Person—Jesus Christ.
- Jesus claimed to be the only way – He said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Unlike other leaders who pointed people to teachings, Jesus pointed to Himself as the truth.
- One God for all people – The Bible says there is one true God who made heaven and earth and desires all nations to know Him (Acts 17:24–27).
- A relationship, not just religion – Christianity is not mainly about rituals or rules. It is about being reconciled to God through Jesus, who died for our sins and rose again to give us eternal life. This reconciliation allows us to not focus on religious rituals but rather an authentic relationship with God.
After faith in Jesus, believers grow in their walk with God by praying, reading the Bible, obeying Him, and living in community by attending a local church. This ongoing relationship is what makes Christianity unique—it is not about human effort to reach God, but God reaching down to us in Christ.
Your Next Step
The question “What religion is true?” is really a question about Jesus. He is the one who offers forgiveness, truth, and eternal life. Other religions may point toward God, but only Jesus brings us into a living relationship with Him.
